Prelims Judging Tomorrow

Finalised powerpoint and preparation

Chan Hao met our mentor after school as he wanted to teach about presentation skills and possible questions that may be asked. I learnt quite a deal and I shared with the rest about it, so that I am not the only one answering question. We decided to practice on our powerpoint so that we are prepared for Prelims on 5/4.

Meeting with Mentor (2)

We met our mentor again to collect the camera and to review our edited powerpoint.
About the powerpoint, there were no serious problems left. But we needed to decrease the animation/cancel all the animations. Other than that, there were no more comments.

Meeting Mentor

Our mentor looked through our powerpoints and decided we have a few things to work on:

More pictures for the slides
Add in the bibliography that we forgot to include
Add a comparison between already existing products that "solve" car blind spots

He also said that he had a spare rear view camera but it was not with him, we could collect it from him one day. (This saves us the cost of purchasing a camera for our prototype)

Developments

Preliminary round judgings are around the corner, therefore we are getting prepared for it and even planning further ahead and thinking about our prototype.

For today's meeting, we discussed about our points for the powerpoint presentation needed for prelims. This did not really take long as most of us had the same idea planted in our minds. Therefore, the first draft for our powerpoint is done.

We also went to find out what may be the cost of our prototype, and how do we get the materials etc.

We will meet our mentor the day after tomorrow to check our powerpoint presentation.

More brainstorming and finally

We presented a few of our ideas to our mentor and he eliminated more of them again. Until there was a very good idea that Aaron had. It is decided that we use his idea for our project. His idea was: A car blind spot camera.

Not long ago, his father's lorry got damaged at the right side as he was making a right turn. Luckily there wasn't much damage but it still cost money. As his father keeps scolding the ignorant driver that hit his lorry, Aaron found that this accident may be a very common one. Therefore, after we discussed this problem, we came up with the idea of a blind spot camera.

After browsing the internet, we can confirm that there is no such product in the market YET. There were ways around the blind spot problem, but we felt that having a camera would be the best way.

Finally we got a project title, and we will work hard on making this project a sucessful one.
